Since January, Christ Church Academy has been taking part in the ‘Read For My School’ programme. With a selection of over 40 books online and the option to verify books read at home, the aim was simple.
Key Stage 2 had to read as many books as possible! 90,000 children from primary schools across the country have been reading for their spot at the top of the leader board, and this week Christ Church made it.
An astonishing 726 books have been read by the 187 children taking part, ranking them a fabulous second place.
Mrs L Hughes, Head of English said
“We are absolutely delighted; the children have worked hard but had a lot of fun too”.
Prizes include £50 worth of book tokens and 100 fantastic new books for the whole school to enjoy.
Chris Wright principal said “This is a great achievement for all our pupils, those who have taken part have thoroughly enjoyed it and the whole school will benefit from the new books.”
Congratulations to everyone involved.
