The potential arrival of 500 new house in Walton is not an issue that affects Walton, but the whole of Stone. There is a valid argument that the existing infrastructure will not be able to cope.
Hallam Land Management and Davidsons Development are planning to build the new homes off the Eccleshall Road. and have invited readers to a public consultation at the Lamb pub on Tuesday May 21st
The site is scheduled to cover 82 acres of land earmarked in the Stafford Borough Council local plan draft.
What they are proposing is ‘affordable’ housing, and HLMDD have outlined plans for the installation a children’s park, football pitch, wildlife habitat areas and pedestrian and cycle paths, as well as a new pedestrian crossing on the Eccleshall Road, with bus routes to be diverted to the area and land to be made available for the nearby Manor Hill First School, if required.
Walton residents, have received a leaflet which said:
“The proposal represents a logical extension to the existing settlement pattern and, importantly, release of the site for development will contribute towards ensuring a continuous supply of new housing land within the borough that is capable of delivering much needed new homes in the area. ”
But everyone in Stone will be affected so please turn up, see what’s on the table, and make you feelings known. Development is inevitable, but the scale and provisions are still negotiable. Remember Westbridge Park – if you shout loud enough, you will be heard
