Community Organises Clean Up

Residents ‘foraging’ around Lamb Lane

Trainee Community Organiser for Stone, Ian Wright, has been listening to residents of Walton for the last few months. Helping them to identify what they love about where they live and what they want to change, and most importantly what they can do about it.

Following recent meetings of interested residents, with support from Stafford Borough Street Scene, a group of residents gathered at Walton Community Centre on a sunny Saturday morning before setting out to clean up where they live.

Ian, who is hosted by Stafford District Voluntary Services, stated

“I am passionate about communities organising themselves to influence local services and wherever possible doing it for themselves. I know there are people living here who are passionate about their community, the ex Air Ministry Estate is home to some exceptional people who are keen to help each other”

Kerry Lyth, a local resident who attended the clean up with her husband Gaz and children Aaron and Madison said

“Today has been a great group effort, it was nice to see so many children joining in, having fun and helping to look after where they live”.

Further community projects are in the pipeline, if you would like to become involved, have your say, or have ideas for Walton, please contact Ian on 07738 729886 or email
