The Community Council of Staffordshire is being supported by Staffordshire County Council in setting up Good Neighbour Schemes in a number of rural areas in Staffordshire. The help of the local community is vital to make the schemes work successfully in order to offer a bit of help to older, isolated people who are most in need.
The aims of a Good Neighbour Scheme are to introduce people by creating connections of support, and sharing people’s skills and abilities. This will benefit reduced social isolation and help people to lead independent lives and to encourage social contact to keep people safe and well, but also make Staffordshire a better place to live.
There is an opportunity to become part of the development of a new scheme in Barlaston by finding out more at one of the two information session in the Ruth Dickson meeting room at the rear of Barlaston Village Hall on Friday 12th July from 10.30am until 1.30pm. Refreshments will be available, but if you are unable to make the sessions and would like to find out how to get involved telephone Michelle Reynolds at the Community Council of Staffordshire on 01785 242525 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
