A new WI for Barlaston …

A-new-WIjpg

Barlaston Herons WI is a newly formed WI group of women, young and old, meeting monthly in the Methodist Church on Park Drive, Barlaston on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 7.30 – 9.30pm.

It is a time for women to meet, learn new things, share ideas, make new friends, fundraise and have fun. They have been planning a varied programme – craft workshops, speakers, meditation and so much more.  The WI is the original social network, founded nationally in 1915, for women of all ages, but Barlaston Herons WI had their official forming meeting on 20th February 2013 and already have 20 members signed up.

So far, they have completed a watercolour workshop and had a go at belly dancing!  They have decorated a silk scarf, which involved dripping drops of different dyes onto the scarf creating amazing colours and they’ve just experienced the most calm meeting yet, with a relaxation workshop encouraging all the members to take a pause from their busy lives to take a moment for themselves.
