This Farmers Market has been run successfully since September 2011 within the charming setting of the old farmyard of Sugnall Home Farm in the hamlet of Sugnall near Eccleshall.
Surrounded by rolling Staffordshire countryside and set above the restored walled garden, this tranquil venue is perfect for a Farmers Market. The ancient brick built barns surrounding the farmyard house a variety of craft and food stalls.
Outside, there are canopied stalls selling a delicious variety of food including cheese, bread, meat and vegetarian pies together with lamb, beef and pork. Cakes, cookies, herbs, a variety of plants, curry sauces, fresh ground coffee, and freshly squeezed orange juice to date. Craft stalls include wood turning products, decorative metalwork with individual commissions taken, jewellery, cushions, bunting, greeting cards, paintings, knitwear, gifts and novelty waistcoats.
Adderley meats will be on site to serve up a HOG ROAST served with stuffing and potatoes from 12 noon.
The owner of the estate, Dr David Jacques who set up the market initially, is stepping down after this month’s market and the reins are being taken up by a committee of stall holders. Their enthusiasm will ensure the market’s future with new stalls to include seasonal vegetables, eggs, jams and chutneys to name just a few.
We aim to have local musicians each month, a chance for local talent to be show cased, together with face painting for children, a tombola, a variety of charities represented, birds of prey plus occasional themed events with competitions for children.
The café situated in the old carpenters workshop will be open for breakfast, bacon baps, hot and cold drinks, plus a few new ideas too.
Entry is free to the market and walled garden.
Markets are held on the Second Sunday of every month, apart from January.
Open from 10-2pm. 11 August 8 September 13 October 10 November 8 December 2013
