Richmond Villages, which runs five luxury retirement villages throughout the UK, is considering whether to build another one in the Stafford and Stone area. On July 6th, the retirement operator held a public exhibition at the Stone House Hotel to gauge local public opinion and gain a better understanding of the need in this area.
Richmond Homes has sites in Cheshire, Coventry, Northampton, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. According to its publicity material, the villages offer independent living, assisted living, or domiciliary care services plus a restaurant, library, café and shop, hair salon, an art and crafts studio and sports facilities.
A Richmond Village is claimed to create up to 100 full and part-time jobs for local people.Richmond also calculate that within a 20 minute drive time of Stafford there are currently 32,672 over 65s, representing 20.4% of the population. Over the next 15 years that figure is predicted to grow by 36.7% to 44,646 people.
“Unfortunately the exhibition turn-out at Stone wasn’t great but we didn’t realise that there were other events on which may well have kept people away,” Richmond Marketing Manager David Reaves told the Gazette.
“We would like to invite anyone who is either interested or who would like to find out more about Richmond Villages to arrange a visit to our nearest village, Richmond Nantwich by calling Alison Harding or Nicola Tooke on 01270 629080.”
