Year 8 pupils Sam Oldham, David Stone, Shattom Ghosh and Matthew Letham, have returned to Christ Church following their latest maths adventure to the capital city. The four boys proceeded from the first round of the competition of which 70,000 pupils took part. Their next challenge was to face the top 2% of young mathematicians in the country, an incredible achievement on its own. However, an outstanding performance from every member of the team ensured that they won this round of the competition, securing them a place in the final in London.
The final competition consisted of 4 team rounds including, a time trial and head to head round. Maths teacher Mr Wall said ’I think the boys represented CCA admirably, despite being a year younger than most competitors, the boys acquitted themselves excellently, finishing an impressive 71st out of all of the secondary schools in the country.’
This prestigious honour demonstrates their achievement as some of the best young mathematicians in the UK.
