Stone Rotary recognises local “Young Achievers”

The-Albert-Holmes-Award-2

Once again this year the Rotary Club of Stone & District has presented certificates and gift vouchers to students at the Town’s Middle Schools who have been recognised by their Teachers as being ‘Young Achievers’. It is not necessarily academic achievement or sporting achievement – the aim is to recognise those who have put in extra effort and have really impressed their Teachers throughout the school year.

The Club instituted the awards in memory of long serving member, Albert Holmes, who during his 47 years of membership of the Stone club was always particularly keen that the Club did all that it could to encourage young people to achieve their full potential.  It is for this reason that the current Club members thought it appropriate to remember Albert in this way.

Albert’s daughter, Anthea Lavene, was present at both presentations and at Christ Church Academy she and Ken Rogers, the Club’s Youth Service Chairman, presented the awards to Alaina Bates, Reece Manuell, Sam Oldham, Jordan Salter and Hannah Wheatley. At Walton Priory Middle School Club President John Beamond joined Anthea to present the Awards to Oliver Beattie, Kyle Frid, Bradley Langford, Henry Langston and Callum Rainford.
