‘A Passion to Paint’ An exhibition by Stone Artist, Gillian Robbins

 ‘A Passion to Paint’

An exhibition by Stone Artist, Gillian  Robbins

at Stone Library 1st – 30th November 2013

”A passion to paint comes from within and is something which never leaves me. Being an artist makes me more aware of life around me. Nature, the elements, people and buildings are all sources of inspiration. Even in the most mundane situations, I find myself observing contrasting light colours and form.   I was born in Stone and love this town with it’s bustling markets and visitors. I often walk through the wild Trent meadows and busy canal with all it’s boating activity, and get lots of inspiration for my paintings from these areas.I also have connections and a deep affinity with Oxford, where I get very much inspired by it’s light and atmosphere, the beautiful old ochre buildings and cobbled streets. I exhibit in Oxford frequently.

I studied at Stoke College of Art and worked in the design centre at Wedwood, Barlaston for many years. I also studied Art at The Oval, Stafford and was a teacher of Fine Art for Stafford College for twenty years. I have exhibited my work throughout the country, and a number of paintings can also be found in Australia, Norway, USA, South Africa, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.

I am also a member of The Society of Staffordshire Artists so I hope you get the opportunity to visit my current exhibition- ‘ A Passion To Paint’ at Stone Library 1st – 30th November 2013 and making yourself known to me if I’m in attendance. ” To view some of Gillian’s work, you can also visit www.inspiredartwoork.co.uk
