A very special charity evening on Thursday, 14th November will offer Only Fools & Horses fans the chance to spend an evening in the company of actor John Challis, AKA ‘Boycie’.
Perhaps best known for his role in the well-loved and enduring British comedy, John will entertain guests with anecdotes from his career and will also be on hand to sign copies of his books. The evening, at Worston Mill in Great Bridgford, will include a welcome drink and three-course meal and, whilst spending an evening in the company of a comedy legend, ticket holders will be helping to support Cannock-based charity Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children.
Ben Gamble, MD and Head Auctioneer at Cuttlestones, which is hosting the evening, says: “The Newlife Foundation is our Charity of the Year for 2014 and we’re well on target to raising the £10,000 we’re aiming for. Running this event is the icing on the cake – we’re all big Only Fools & Horses fans, and we know that there will be plenty of other people out there as keen as we are to meet one of its longest-standing cast members.”
The evening’s entertainment will include, alongside John Challis’s talk, a charity auction for six incredible lots including items signed by Olympic medal winning gymnasts Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle, the comedian John Bishop and the Red Arrows, signed works by a local artist and a 5* London weekend break. A lucky ticket draw and raffle will also feature, whilst every guest will also receive a gold or silver envelope. There will be two lucky winners; one will receive a piece of women’s jewellery and the other an overnight stay – including all meals – for two people at Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club.
Christopher Belyavin, Regional Fundraiser for the Newlife Foundation says:
“This is going to be a fantastic event – we’d like to thank John Challis and Cuttlestones for their support, each and every one of the stars and organisations that have put forward auction and raffle prizes, and The Mill at Worston for kindly supporting the event. All of this means that, hopefully, a lot of money will go directly toward supporting disabled and terminally ill children and their families.”
Tickets are priced at £37.50 each, or £50.00 to sit on John Challis’ table. To secure yours call 01785 714905, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or pop into reception at Cuttlestones’ Penkridge and Wolverhampton auction rooms.
