Lacey Stevens ready for the Winter Walk

Nurses at Katharine House Hospice are encouraging supporters to join the popular annual Sponsored Winter Walk which 150 people have already registered for. The walk will once again be taking part on Milford Common on Sunday 8th December from 10am. Last year over 600 people took part in the seasonal stroll which each December sees experienced walkers, families and even their dogs – taking in a fresh and frosty 4.5 mile circuit of Milford Common to help raise funds for the Hospice.
Event fundraiser James Lunney said “the Winter Walk has become a very popular annual event – giving local people the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely pre-Christmas work-out – whilst helping a vital local charity near Christmas. The hospice stays open 24hrs a day over Christmas with the nurses working around the clock”.
Registrations are now being taken for the walk. Prices have been held at £10 per person to take part (including a commemorative badge, soup and a roll). Children walk for free. On the day registrations are £15 for adults and £2 for children.
James says “Over the last two years Lacey has taken part in the ‘Winter Walk’ and has raised over £700, all in her own time. As a result Lacey received the Cannock Councils Youth Endeavour Award. Lacey is taking apart again this year and hopes to beat last year’s total of over £400.” It’s remarkable what Lacey has done for the hospice at such a young age and we are truly grateful for all Lacey’s efforts.
