Supporters can now sign up for Douglas Macmillan Hospice’s Family 5K Walk & Run, which takes place on Sunday 6th April at the Wedgwood Estate.
A brand new feature for this year’s event, which attracted 1000 people last year, is that all runners will be professionally chip timed.
This innovative practice will allow runners to get an accurate time for their run and help them smash their personal best time from previous 5K runs.
For families there will again be an individual route which will take them on a gentle stroll through the scenic estate of Wedgwood and the village of Barlaston; with dog owners also encouraged to bring their furry best friend.
The morning will be filled with fun activities for all the family including an Easter Egg Hunt and spotting mascots including Port Vale FC’s Boomer and our very own Dougie the Sunflower.
Liz Clarke, Head of Fundraising commented,
“The Family 5K Walk & Run is a wonderful morning where all of the family whether running or walking; come together to have fun and raise valuable funds for Dougie Mac.
“We hope by having runners chipped will attract many of the local running fraternity to our event. “All funds raised from the Family 5K Walk & Run will help the Hospice continue to care for local people of North Staffordshire facing life limiting illnesses.”
