Family-Circles-1From Tuesday February 4th to Saturday February 8th 2014 at 7.30pm Stafford Players are performing  Alan Ayckbourn’s “Family Circles” in the newly refurbished  Malcolm Edwards Theatre at Stafford’s Gatehouse.
This early Ayckbourn is as funny, intelligent and daring as any of his better known works.
Three daughters, plus their men, come together at the family home, to celebrate their parents’ wedding anniversary.
According to the father Edward Gray “we all marry the wrong people” and looking at his daughters and their choice of partners you would be inclined to agree with him!  His own marriage isn’t all roses either, as his daughters suspect their parents of trying to kill each other!  As the plot thickens the old adage of “Is the grass greener on the other side?” is examined as the daughters are shown with all partners changed, and then again, until we see every possible combination played out with each result being no more successful than the original pairings. Utter mayhem!
The joint directors, Phil Lycett and David Parton, are both experienced actors but they are very excited to be making their directing debut with an Ayckbourn play.
Their cast are a real mixture of newcomers and “old hands”. Six of the cast have acted with Stafford Players before, including the very experienced John and Liz Mills, who are husband and wife both on and off the stage!
Dan Brown, Alison Long and Alex Clay are making their first appearances on stage for the Players. Alison, though, worked backstage for last February’s “A Pack of Lies” and Alex has featured in Stafford Players’ very popular Murder Mystery evenings.
Tickets are £8.50 (concessions £7.50) from or 01785 254653
