Into the “Spot light” with A Handful of Songs

Girlguiding-Stone-Outward-DOnce again Girlguiding Stone Outward Division present “A Handful of Songs”, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders are preparing for an un-missable show at the Stoke Repertory Theatre in April. Rehearsals are well underway for the 39th year of ‘A Handful of Songs’. This musical spectacular is the biannual performance by Girlguiding members from the villages surrounding Stone.

The cast, who range from just seven to eighteen years of age, are set to wow the audience with their renditions of timeless classics and modern favourites also including the celebration of the Brownie Birthday (100 years) and the commemoration of the First World War (100 years).Show Producer Maureen said “although we are in the first stages of rehearsal I have to say that the vocals will ensure that it will be a very moving and fantastic spectacle”. Amazingly, this production is put together in as little as thirteen Sunday rehearsals.

Since its inception in 1975, the show is a fantastic opportunity for the girls to build their confidence. They all behave like true professionals on stage and the smiles on the girls’ faces make all the hard work worth while. Girlguiding is all about giving girls and young woman a voice, we certainly achieve that

‘A Handful of Songs 2014’ is at Stoke-on-Trent Repertory Theatre from Tuesday 8th to Saturday 12th April each evening, with a Saturday matinee performance too. Tickets available now from tickets@handfulofsongs.org.uk or 01782 760682.
