On 12th March, 2014 Stone Lions Club were pleased to welcome to their Business Meeting Past International Director Lion Douglas X Alexander, who was staying with District Governor Dave Handley and his wife Chris prior to attending the Lions District Convention in Telford on 15th March as International guest speaker.

It must have been quite a shock for Lion Douglas to visit our little town of Stone as he lives in Brooklyn, New York!

One of Lion President Glenys’s responsibilities as Youth Officer is the promotion of the Young Leaders in Service award which acknowledges and rewards young people (11 to 18) who voluntarily give of their time to serve their community.

There are four children in the Scott family and each of them has completed more than 100 hours voluntary service meriting a Gold Award.

For four children in the same family to achieve this is certainly unique and they can be very proud of themselves.

To mark such an event PID Lion Douglas was asked to present each of the young people with their certificates.

Not only are our congratulations due to the recipients but also to Mrs Margaret Hickman from Aston Cricket Club who has worked hard to promote this scheme to benefit the young members.
