Last year the villagers sowed wild flowers in and around the village. As part of this years Best Kept Village Competition members of Oulton’s BKV Committee will be sowing a million poppy seeds. As we all are aware 2014 marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War and the committee thought that this would be an appropriate gesture to commemorate those lost in the great conflict.
The committee is also working on a “Heritage Walk” around the village centered on the old red telephone kiosk. This will highlight points of interest around the village and it is hoped that this will be in place before the summer.”
