On Monday 3rd March, Year 6 at St Dominic’s Catholic Primary School received a visit from 4 local entrepreneurs. Over the last 6 weeks, as part of their creative curriculum, the children have been studying the topic of Dragons’ Den.
This theme enabled the children to put vital maths skills into action, as well learn important life skills. Throughout the project the budding entrepreneurs ran their own mini enterprise – designing and making a money box.
Once their designs had been finalised, the prototypes made and the costings worked out, the youngsters then pitched their product to the Dragons’ for a chance to win a generous cash prize. Class teacher, Miss Harvey, said: ‘the children thoroughly enjoyed the project and learnt a great amount. There was a terrific buzz around the classroom.’
Overall the project was a great success. Well done Year 6 and a big thank you to all involved.
