Stone Master Marathoner Ben Gamble, who featured in the April Gazette, completed the London Marathon in 2.34.50. Besides aiming to improving his personal best, the elite runner was fundraising to equip the University Hospital of North Staffs with another cooling mattress like the one that saved the life of his daughter Bethany who was born there a year ago.
But due to a bad hip which stopped him training properly, Ben’s London time was 11 minutes slower than his personal best of 2’23.
“He still managed to run really well and hopes to do another marathon later in the year when he plans to smash his best time,”
Ben’s wife Amy told the Gazette.
Ben’s fundraising website remains open at www.justgiving.com/bethanygamble where donations towards his £14,000 target currently total over £2,600.
