Week Ending 14/04/2014
With the weather being much better this week, a lot more anglers are gracing our banks, with quite a few anglers getting out for the first time this year. With some Mild temperatures moving in, the fly life has increased dramatically with hatches coming off daily. Natural flies seem to be working the best this week, small dries, Crunchers and Buzzers being the most productive patterns.
Another stocking of fish went in on Friday to keep the fishing at a top level, both lakes had fish up to 10lb go in to them. Chris Ector took full advantage of the new stockies by landing 18 fish on Saturday, Chris fished both lakes using a floating line and Buzzers to land fish up to 7lb.
John Davies from Wales was had the most impressive bag this week landing 15 fish, John landed fish from both lakes including not one but TWO DOUBLES. One at 15lb 8oz, the 2nd being just over 10lb. All fish were caught on a ‘White Welsh Witch’ Similar to a leech. Both big fish were returned.
Terry Sinclair and Clan gave us a visit last week, all five of them landed fish. Terry landed five cracking fish on an ‘F’ Fly and a small Black Nymph off the Railway Pool. His lad told me afterwards that he missed more than 30 takes on dries.
