The Trout fishing has been spectacular this week with EVERY angler catching fish and some anglers catching over 20. Dry flies and smaller Nymphs have been the best tactics over both pools, even with the bright conditions the trout have been more than willing to rise freely all day and into the evenings.
John White from Rugeley landed and incredible 26 fish up to 7lb this bank holiday Monday, John caught fish over the two lakes using a variety of small nymphs and CDC Dry Flies. Geoff Hadley from Stafford came down for a few hours after work on the £15 evening ticket which is unbelievable value, He had the best days sport he’d had in a very long time if ever before, Landing 36 trout up to 5lb. Geoff fished a floating line and mainly Nymphs to take the fish landing 3 double hook ups.
The water clarity is superb at the moment and the weed has started to show, so fish higher in the water with lighter flies and you will have a fantastic days fishing, The fishery is open from 7am until Dusk.
The coarse fishing has also been great this week with the first major bag coming out of the maze pool, Steve Field from Brownhills weighed in a bag of carp for 148lb 8ozs to win a small club knock up Monday night. Peg 17 was the place to be and pellet plus corn was the bait fished to the lillies. With the weather now warming up the carp and bream will get onto the feed, Later on in the day seems to be the best time for the big bags here at Seighford Lakes so stick with it and have a bit of patience.
The small Horseshoe pool has and always is great with everyone catching loads of fish here from Tench, Carp to small Roach and Rudd, with last years Skimmers being caught from all pegs, we have now added a new peg and have almost finished the 2nd peg.
We are looking to run a few evening matches on the Maze throughout the warmer months, so if you are interested please watch this space and PM me if your interested.
