Eccleshall RUFC are looking forward to the new season

Eccleshall RUFC are looking forward to the new season with renewed vigour and a new coaching team

Eccleshall RUFC preseason training starts on July 1st and marks a new dawn in the clubs 35 year history.  With Coach Steve Teasdale stepping aside after 3 years in Midlands 3 WN the club has taken the opportunity to take stock.

It was decided that the club should put in place a coaching team to work with the captains to reinvigorate the playing side with the ambition for both the 1XV & 2XV to be challenging for promotion from their respective leagues.  It is also hoped that this new on field impetus will aid recruitment and Eccleshall will be able to re-establish its 3XV during the first months of the 2014/15 season.

Eccleshall RUFC have appointed Steve Dolphin as senior club coach for the forthcoming season, Steve returns to Baden Hall based side having coached them to promotion into Mids 3 WN in 2011.
Since then Steve has coached Newport (Salop) RUFC in National 3 Midlands as well as last season coaching Shropshire to winning the North Midlands Championship.
Steven’s first task back at Eccleshall was to build a coaching team to work with him and has recently announced that former 1XV team fly half Stuart Davies will be his assistant and former 1XV captain and founder member Jamie Watt will be brought on board as forwards coach.
Nick Hulse will continue to Captain the 1XV and Mikey Wilshaw will be taking on the 2XV captaincy following David Trigg who stepped down at the end of last season.

Preseason training at Baden Hall commences on Tuesday July 1st at 1900 and will be held every Tuesday and Thursday till the stat of the playing season.
Club Chairman Tim West commented

“ It’s great to have Dolph back, having coached us to promotion in 20011 he’s  spent a number of years coaching at a higher level and we very much hope that he will bring all that he has learnt to benefit all that play for Eccleshall.
Its also great that he has appointed two former Eccleshall players to his coaching team to lead along with our captains what we hope is an upturn in fortunes.  We have young side many of whom have come through our outstanding junior section and with are looking forward to a successful season across our club”
