Members and friends of Izaak Walton Golf Club gathered on Saturday 31 May to celebrate 21 years of great golf and camaraderie since the club was founded at Cold Norton, near Stone in 1993. The club started out as Meadow Vale, but soon changed its name to Izaak Walton Golf Club, and has gone from strength to strength, with members playing golf at local and national levels, and has even had representation on the professional tours.

The sun shone on the celebrations as members arrived to start the day with a golf competition. This took the form of a 9 -hole “hidden partners” pairs competition, and was won by Jen Everill and Ken Bentley.

The club is well known for its friendliness and sociability, and this came to the “fore” as the evening celebrations got under way. The BBQ was a huge success – and thanks are due to Richard East Butchers for supplying the meat. Richard is a club member, and the great club spirit is shown by his generous contribution, along with those from other members who joined in to organise the event, decorate the clubhouse and patio, and bake a beautiful (and delicious!) celebratory cake. The BBQ was manned with great skill by other club members, supplemented by excellent salads etc from the club’s well-reknowned caterer. Over 100 members, friends and family enjoyed the evening and music, and even went back to childhood with a bouncy castle!
