On Wednesday 25th June 2014 the Stone Lions held their annual President’s handover at the Oak Tree Farm tea rooms. This is the fourth year that the Lions have enjoyed these facilities and many thanks go to David Moreton for allowing the club to use them once again.
An excellent evening was enjoyed by all, fine food provided by the members and beautiful sunshine to enjoy the surroundings. The handover saw past president Lion Glenys Sanders passing over the chain of office to Lion Rod Niven who has been with the Stone Lions for the past 5 years and has been a valuable member in his post as club treasurer, he is looking forward to his term in office and hoping to lead the Lions to a successful twelve months of fund raising and helping the people in the local community.
This also sees the coming of the end of Lion Dave Handley’s year in office as District Governor, it has been a very busy year for both Dave and his wife Lion Chris, who in her position as wife of the DG has been fundraising for the charity “ Newlife” who support youngsters with special needs. Chris with other clubs in the Zone has raised the magnificent sum of over £12.500 for the charity, she is now looking forward to a slightly quieter year!
