Christ Church Academy Year 5 pupils this week had the pleasure of visiting Fordhall Farm. Amongst the day’s activities including mini-beast hunting and building woodland animal shelters, farmer Ben had asked the children to complete the farm tasks including feeding the pigs and chickens, collecting eggs and checking on a newly born calf and its mother.
Having worked up an appetite the children then made homemade pizzas, to be cooked in the clay oven, using herbs and flowers from the completely organic garden as toppings.
Miss A Rodda, Head of Science said
‘the children have thoroughly enjoyed experiencing life on a farm. They have learnt about the farm and all its creatures with great enthusiasm and have represented the school brilliantly.’
A lovely day for everyone involved.
