Eccleshall RUFC – Statement of intent regarding the future relocation of Eccleshall RUFC from Baden Hall.
It is the intention of Eccleshall RUFC, following a unanimous vote of the Club Committee, to actively engage in the exploration and identification of land for purchase, with the objective to create a permanent “home” for ERUFC .
The Club is seeking a site which will be able to accommodate rugby for our existing membership as well as provide the opportunity for us to expand our playing base and if appropriate explore and engage in other possible revenue streams.
It is envisaged that a site of some 20 acres would satisfy the clubs current need, we will however be considering sites in excess of 20 acres to ensure the clubs future growth is not unduly restricted.
To maintain the club identity and links with the local community, a radius of no more than 5 miles from Eccleshall, will be considered for our new home.
All club members, supporters, sponsors and the local community are invited to become actively involved in this exciting project.
A steering group has been set up to guide the club through what is provisionally considered a 2 year planning project. Working groups will be set up to focus on specific areas; the first two focus groups will be land acquisition and fundraising.
There will be opportunities for those interested in putting themselves forward to assist with the work of these groups. As the project gathers momentum and throws up inevitable challenges, an abundance of skills, advice and guidance will be required and much like our efforts on the pitch we will have to pull together to achieve a common aim.
While our future at Baden Hall is not in jeopardy, it was felt by the Club Committee that due to the current strength and size of our club, the opportunities brought about by the planned increase in the population of Eccleshall and the imminent impact of Rugby World Cup 2015 and its legacy – now is the best time to embark on this exciting initiative.
We will endeavour to keep all club members regularly updated via the club website as to the progress of this project over the forthcoming season. If you would like further information or would like to get involved please contact any of the development steering committee.
