Report week Ending 8/7/2014

We have rolled out the Summertime Ticket , you lucky fly fishermen !!! The water maybe warm, the trout fishing maybe slowing down , but you can come along and chill out with a rod in your hand for just £10. Practice your casting, enjoy the peace and tranquility, top up your tan, maybe even work at catching some of these crafty Rainbow Trout. We are eager to get the Trout out now before the water does warm up too much for them, so we will be stopping catch and release for the time being. On your £10 ticket you can take two fish home. If you do land more fish, if you could bring them all to the lodge so i can distribute them to anglers that haven’t managed to land one.
Trevor Bailey landed 4 fish on Saturday using a floating line and various Dry flies on the top end of the Swan Neck Pool. There are still plenty of fish up on the last two pegs of the front lake. Small naturals seem to be the way forward. Hares Ears, Crunchers and Diawl Bachs. Most anglers this week have all managed at least one fish each.
After last weeks manic session on the Old Pool. James Finney (Stafford) returned again Monday night to land a further 6 fish. 3 of those fish were caught within 30 mins of setting up on peg 5. Here is just one of the fish he landed, a 14lb 2 oz Common Carp. All fish were caught using a large maggot clip cast to lily pads down his right hand margin. Top angling buddy.
James’s Father-in-law John Brayne had a cracking looking scaley mirror off peg 21 over the weekend. Landed using his trusty Code Red 15mm Boilies. The fish weighed in at 16lb 10oz.
There are still a few spots available over the next week for some night fishing. Saturday night is full now. Please get in touch over here or give me a call on 07933512401 to get booked in.
