19 year old Eccleshall Eagles Junior Football Club coach and Stafford College student, Gareth Hawkins, has recently gone through rigorous assessment centres and training matches where he has been put through his paces.
All in the hope of being chosen to attend the FA’s National Football Future camp at St Georges Park at the end of July.
Gareth’s hard work and commitment in both college where he is studying a foundation degree in football coaching and his voluntary work with Eccleshall Eagles Junior Football Club helped him scoop this prestigious invitation to the new base for English Football.
Gareth has been a member of Eccleshall Eagles from the age of 13, joining first as a player and then progressing into coaching and management and he is now running the Club’s Under 13 team.
Gareth, not happy with this achievement is also on the look out for new players for the Club with anyone welcome if they are aged 11-12 (School Years 7 and 8) and looking for somewhere local to train and play. The side trains on a Saturday and plays on a Sunday.
Gareth said on hearing the news :
“This is just brilliant news, I can’t wait to get up to St. Georges Park and spend the summer training, learning and playing. On a local level, Eccleshall Eagles is great fun and is excelling year-by-year, with the Under 13s coming runners up in both the league and shield last season. Who knows what position we can secure in the League and Cups next year.”
