Seighford Lakes Fishery Report – Week Ending 30/9/2014
Trout fishing has been tough for some of the lads this week. The bright sun and summer temperatures are still against us even though we are approaching October now. There are fish moving all over the Swan Neck Pool but are seeming pretty tricky to catch for even some of the local lads . A couple of anglers managed to suss them out over the weekend. Steve Taylor from Stafford landed a few fish over the week including this 3lb fish (Pictured). Steve landed the Rainbow Trout on a floating line and a Diawl Bach, the key was to cast as far as you can and retrieve very slowly with a figure of eight. Top rod this week was Paul Waller who landed 7 fish using a variety of Buzzers fished static under the bung.
I have had 80 tonne of Tarmac plainings delivered this week for the track a head of this winter. We will be putting them down back end of this week, business will be as usual though so not to worry. I have also been out repairing some of the platforms on the Swan Neck as a lot of the boards were rotten, as you can see from the pictures the water level is down almost a foot and a half now. Some much needed rain is welcome!!!
Work on the Railway Pool is carrying on this week – hopefully all the weed will be out by next week.** A stocking will certainly be going into the Swan Neck Pool next week – so let’s hope it can cool down slightly by then.**
Well what a week we have had here on the Old Pool. Fishing has been absolutely immense on the 1.5 acre Carp pool. It has done over 100 Carp this week including fish to 20lb. Lee Bailey from Stafford makes news again this week, after finally catching the fish he has been after for 8 months. The Seighford hot rod has managed to bank ‘Apple Slice’ Although it has took him a long time to catch her i am sure everyone will agree with me that its worth the wait. Coming in at 16lb 5oz it has to be one of the best looking fish i have seen come out of our complex. Not the biggest fish Lee has caught in his life, but i don’t think he will mind me saying that she must be one of the prettiest. The fish was tempted off peg 3 (newly named Sunset Swim) on the Old Pool, on a 15mm Mainline Hybrid Wafter Boilie, surrounded by Frozen Hybrid offerings. This was part of a 18 fish haul for Lee in a 48 hour session.
Dom Garner from Eccleshall landed this other great looking fish on the Weekend. Fishing from peg 2 of the Old Pool he banked this 15lb 2 oz Mirror Carp. If you want to catch fish like the ones pictured, why not come and give us ago over the next few weeks. My night fishing is now on a very special offer. I am doing night fishing from just £10 – This runs from 4.30pm til 12 (mid day) the following day, that is 20 hours of fishing for £10. THAT’S JUST 50P AND HOUR!!!.
