Trout Fishing

The Trout Fishing has been outstanding this week at Seighford Lakes, with some lads having days that they will remember forever. With the water level being down by almost 2 feet we are very much in need of some rain, the rain will also help cool the water down slightly and hopefully spread the fish out. Top bag this week is Kevin Waters from Cannock who landed 10 fish from the peg in front of the lodge. He took all his fish using a floating line and an Olive Pattern. The most productive flies this week have been small Dries such as CDC’s and small Hoppers, also buzzers, small nymphs and Egg flies fished static under a bung.

More fish will be going into the Swan Neck Pool next week to freshen the resident stockies up. Work has started on the Railway Pool now.

I had a group of students down from Reaseheath College in Nantwich which gave me a hand clearing all of the margins of weed, also cutting back some of the marginal life so fishing is more accessible. The lads worked very well and were all rewarded with Chip Butties for their efforts. For anyone who is interested in any of the Fishery based courses that this great college has to offer please get in touch with either myself at the fishery or the college direct. They are still enrolling for this years course – these courses can lead to great opportunities in the fishery industry whilst doing something you love.

Coarse Fishing

The Old Pool has been in top form all week now with anglers landing plenty of fish in just short sessions. Pete and Andy smith from Stone did a short evening session last Thursday which resulted in 9 fish up to 16lb. All fish were caught from ‘Baileys Swim'(Infront of the lodge) The winning bait was a 14mm Pop up Boilie.
Apple Slice has graced our banks again last weekend. This time to local angler Rob Kemsley (Stafford) who took this fish off peg 16 using Stiff Hindge with a White Cell Pop up Boilie. The great looking Mirror Carp weighed in at 15lb 3oz (Down slightly on weight). Rob also said he lost a much bigger fish during his quick session. Top angling buddy.
Don’t forget from October – i am doing night fishing for just £10 Which is the best price around the midlands area for night fishing. This will give you fishing from 4pm too the following mid day (That works out at less than 50p an hour…Crazy) Giving you the chance to land fish like the one pictured and bigger!!
