Haywood Park Farm to host ‘press-tigious’ Apple Day

Apple harvest season is upon us! To celebrate, Haywood Park Farm on the Shugborough estate is hosting an apple fun day on Saturday 18th October.

Amongst other attractions, visitors can witness the workings of a traditional apple press, tour the farm’s orchards, and enjoy some delicious local produce at the mini farmers’ market.

With a glut of apples to be found in gardens all over the UK this time of year, why not make special use of yours by bringing them along to the day’s free festivities? There will be apple pressing demonstrations throughout using fruit from the farm’s orchards, and guests can leave their own apples at the farm for pressing into delicious, bottled juice at a future date.

Experts will also be on hand to help identify the particular type of apple growing in your back garden, as well as providing tips on how to cultivate and maintain your trees for a better crop in the future.

Away from the orchard, visitors can enjoy the delights of the mini farmers’ market showcasing food and drink from local suppliers such as Abbots Bromley butcher Simon Wilson, specialist honey from Neil Leadbetter, Staffordshire’s Guernsleigh cheese, Bev McHugh’s organic vegetables, freshly baked breads by Helen Davies, Diana Smith’s jams and preserves, and Park Hill Farm beef who will be selling hot beef sandwiches and hot dogs alongside the refreshments and cakes available from other stalls.

Finally, for those with a taste for something a little stronger, beers from Staffordshire’s Lymestone and Freedom breweries will available by the glass whilst Wolseley Wine Loft which will showcase some delights from its extensive range of tasty tipples.

Haywood Park Farm is located on the A513, halfway between Milford Common and Wolseley Bridge. There is no charge for entry with gates open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 18th October.
