Stone Alzheimers Drop in Centre – held every Thursday at Christ Church Centre, ceebrated its eigth birthday on October 9th with the perennial favourite Kate’s Party – a very real entertainer in every sense of the word. It was indeed a full house and we should all thank Stella and her many helpers including the unpaid taxi service provided by Stone Lions, for a voluntaily funded service that make a very real difference – not only to the sufferers of the horrific degenarative condition – but also for the carers who take the opportunity to meet and share experiences.

This condition is growing exponentially as the the population ages and in the next two decades, the NHS really will not be able to cope. It isn’t now, so what chance is there in a climate of governmental cuts … it doesn’t bear thinking about. So whist Stella is still able front the Stone facility, it’s up to all readers to see what they can do to maintain and increase the difference the Drop in Centre makes.
Please reemmber, any business or body that wants to benefit from the readership of the Gazette, it’s not rocket science – “make friends” with the Alzheimer’s Drop in Centre – or indeed Stone Stroke Club, and coverage is more or less a given.
