In the magical run-up to Christmas, RSPB Coombes Valley is giving visitors the chance to celebrate the festive season in a woodland wonderland.
Lucy Hodson, spokesperson for the RSPB says:
“With a brand new yurt, accessible footpaths, and natural play trail, why not adventure outdoors this winter with all the family?
“Come and experience the magical woodland in all its splendour with activities suitable for all ages. Nature enthusiasts can go on a fascinating guided walk, learning to identify our native trees. For families with younger children, a challenge trail set by Father Christmas awaits you!”
On Sunday 7 December, Coombes Valley will host a winter tree guided walk, led by RSPB’s Woodland Officer and tree enthusiast Tabi Kime. Visitors will explore the rich variety of trees on a walk through the beautiful and peaceful woodlands. There will be a festive tree quiz with a chance to win a special tree identification companion.
Every Thursday to Sunday from November 27 – December 2, little helpers are needed for the Father Christmas and the Woodland Wardrobe trail. Children will have the unique opportunity to explore the new natural play trail in search of Santa’s clothes after they have been washed and lost by the wildlife of the Valley!
The trail will run 10am to 4pm every Thursday to Sunday in the run-up to Christmas; beginning 27 November and ending on 21 December. It will cost £4 per child with 20% off for RSPB members (adults go free) which will include a Christmas prize at the end.
Lucy Hodson, Visitor Officer at Coombes Valley says:
“After the huge success of our Halloween Scavenger Hunt we are really looking forward to Christmas at Coombes!
The trail will give families the chance to explore the new natural play areas including the new fairy village, den building area and storytelling circle. Children will also get the chance to learn more about the woodland wildlife. What better way to get in the festive spirit!”
