A record 3,000 runners could be lining up for the Stafford Half Marathon next year. Organisers have increased the capacity of the event and an extra 400 spaces are now available when entries opened in November.
The event takes place on Sunday 22 March 2015 with a start time of 10am and each participant will receive a medal along with a running t-shirt.
Around 2,600 competitors set off in the 2014 event but a new route has allowed the borough council to increase next year’s capacity and they are urging people to register early to avoid missing out. Crowds including local community groups and school children line the 13.1 mile route to cheer on the runners. Readers can enter online at www.staffordbc.gov.uk/halfmarathon, in person at the Stafford Gatehouse Theatre in Eastgate Street, or by calling 01785 619080.
Councillor Mike Smith, Cabinet Member for Leisure, a former half marathon competitor, said: “I would urge all those who want to take part in the 2015 race to get their entries in as soon as possible because places fill up quickly once registration opens.”
Entry for the 31st running of the event will be closed when the capacity of 3,000 is reached. For more information or to register visit www.staffordbc.gov.uk/halfmarathon, email email@example.com or call 01785 619300.
