Two teams of Stone students were among 8 teams that had the chance to present their new products to a panel of ‘Dragons’as part of this year’s Young Enterprise competition at Yarnfield Park on Wednesday 19th November.
Each team had 15 minutes in front of 4 members of the panel; 5 minutes to present and 10 minutes for feedback. The panel included John Sewell of IT, Gayle Norbury of Imstra Marketing, Jane Hemmings, Commercial Sales Manager of Yarnfield Park Conference Centre as well as last year’s finalist MD, Ignite’s Katy Minshull.
First of the Alleyne’s Academy teams to showcase their product were Team ‘Ad Astra’ who presented a set of stencils which can be used to easily and professionally decorate hot drinks and cakes.
The second Alleyne’s team to present were “Prestige” with their innovative hot drink cup holder which can be branded with company names, decorated with cool designs or personalized.
The judges were very impressed by the standard of the products and the presentations made by the students.
“Bearing in mind they have only had 10 weeks to start and name their company, decide on the structure, raise funds and then develop a product, they are amazingly well advanced. I was totally impressed by the presentations made today and with the professionalism of all the students,” said Gayle Norbury.
The student’s next big event will be their stalls at the Stone Trade Fair on Saturday 7th February at which the visitors will be able to see and buy the finished products from all the teams. Readers should also look out for the teams at the upcoming Christmas Fairs at local schools – they would be delighted to see you!
