Saturday 29th November started cloudy and grey, but by lunchtime the sun was trying to break through over North Staffordshire for the start of the annual Cheddleton 10K Road Race, known locally as the Cheddleton Christmas Pudding Run.
152 runners completed the one lap Fun Run which took place before the main event, with Alex Doyle leading and Jenny Day first female. The 10k runners set off at 2.00pm to complete three laps of undulating country lanes around the rural lanes of Cheddleton village.
An excellent field of 365 runners took part, from the seasoned club participants to those taking the opportunity to enter the festive spirit, with the occasional Santa and elf to be seen.
The 10K race was led home by Mark Dalkins of Cheadle RC in a time of 33:39, with leading lady Mandy Vernon of Trentham RC in 37:52. Stone Master Marathoners were represented by Kevin Uzzell 45:42, Alex Yendole 48:29, Nick Boulton 52:47, Julie Boulton 56:45, Anne-Marie Mountford 1:01:57, and Joyce Edwards 1:01:57. There was good support around the route including a Scottish piper and happy crowds and so with each finisher taking home a Christmas pudding, this was a great event to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.
