Seighford Lakes Fishing Report‏ – Week Ending 9/12/2014

By Phil dixon

Well what a week we have had here at Seighford Lakes. I have never known the fishing to be as good as it is right now. For a small fishery we are starting to get a big name for ourselves with the fish that have been coming out. It really has been a case of ‘Double Figure Fish Galore’ here this past week, with 6 doubles coming out the weekend alone….The biggest weighing in at 15lb 10oz landed by Paul Blackham from Stoke, which was safely returned.

The stockies have settled in nicely and good bags of fish have come out this last week. Trevor Bailey was top rod with 16 fish off the Swan Neck Pool using an Olive Leech tied by Phil dixon on a floating line. Biggest fish was 8lb 8oz.

Pete Roberts (Stoke) 12lb 2oz Rainbow Trout

But the star of this week is Pete Roberts (Stoke) who took the best looking fish of the weekend at 12lb 2oz, smashing his old Personal Best by over 5lb’s!! It doesn’t end there either, Pete landed it on a 5# 8ft rod with 5lb flurocarbon. Superb angling from the now converted Carp angler. Pete landed a further 4 fish off the Railway Pool using a Green Lure purchased from the lodge.

Ivan Cotterill (Uttoxeter) 9lb 4oz Rainbow Trout

Ivan Cotterill (Uttoxeter) also managed a new personal best over the weekend. Ivan is a member of the Saracens Head Angling Club based in Weston (Stafford) A group of their members gave us another visit this week. Ivan took the best fish of the day with this 9lb 4oz Rainbow Trout. Fairly new to the sport Ivan caught his first Trout here around 2 years ago, which was 3lb 8oz this has been his best fish until now. He managed this beauty and was literally bouncing round the banks with joy. Great to see so many smiles on the banks this week despite the arctic weather conditions.
