Trout Fishing

Another Great weeks sport has been had down at Staffordshires premier trout water seighford lakes, anglers have been filling their nets and catching some of the best trout I have ever seen.  With the weather being warm this week the trout have been feeding hard and have been taking a wide variety of flies from Lures to Dries.

Regular and local angler Andy Griffths showed everyone the way not just landing 12 fish but having 10 over 4lb with a fine 8lb rainbow being his best fish.  Andy caught most of his fish on a floating line and a White/Green with a Hot Orange bead fished high in the water.  Andy did take a few of his fish on a Lime Green Buzzer under a Bite Indicator set at 2ft.

Derek Howard from Stafford landed a fine Brown Trout

Derek Howard also from Stafford landed a fine Brown Trout around the 5lb mark which was fin perfect and gave him one hell of a fight.  Derek caught the Brown on a intermediate fly line with a black Leech on the Railway Pool, He finished the day on 9 fish.

Both lakes have had a fresh stock of fish this week which will keep the sport at the high quality we have been seeing, Brown trout have gone into both pools up to 7lb.  If an angler would like to take a Brown Trout they are limited to one per ticket.  A lot of BIG Rainbows have been stocked with fish running well into double figures so watch this space.

Hopefully the weather will be kind to us in the coming weeks and the anglers will keep coming out making the most of the sport on offer.  If we do get any warm days then Nymphs, Buzzers and even Dry Flies are all worth a go.  Look forward to seeing you out on the banks soon.
