Blue Diamonds Square Dance Club

In September last year, our club relocated to the Stone Lawn Tennis & Squash Club.  The tennis club have made us most welcome and the new venue has proved popular with everyone.  The tennis club has a small dance floor, with just enough space to accommodate 2 ‘squares’ (2 groups of 8 dancers) at a time, plus a bar and relaxed seating area where members can have a drink and chat (the bar has a wide selection of beers and all the usual stuff plus soft drinks, tea and coffee, at very reasonable prices).

At Christmas (see photo at top), we collected for Katherine House Hospice’s ‘Give Care not Cards’ appeal, raising a splendid £48. In addition, our friends at Village Squares (Hilderstone) kindly donated the proceeds from their raffle, which raised £37, so when combined with the £38 proceeds from our own raffle, between us, we managed to raise a magnificent £123 to help this very worthy cause.

Our callers, Alan Trengove and Trevor Day (alternate weeks), provide us with a fun evening, catering for everyone from absolute beginners through ‘Basic’ and ‘Mainstream’ to ‘Plus’ (more experienced dancers).

The club is always happy to welcome new members.  Anyone from 12 years old can learn to square dance and there’s no upper age limit, so if you’re looking for a social activity (with exercise) that is fun and yet at the same time a little challenging, you should consider giving it a try?  Why not come along (and bring some friends with you) to see what we do?  Admission is free to prospective members and no prior experience is necessary.  We meet each Thursday evening at around 8.00pm (except during August and over the Christmas period).
