Free legal advice monthly sessions are now on offer at “Making Life Better”, the new community hub at Stone’s Frank Jordan Centre, writes Signposts’ Karen Wardel.
Comprising of the Signposts Centre and The Den Youth Café, the community hub aims to improve life for local people through access to a range of services. During this month, the new group will be launching an appeal through www.crowdfunder.co.uk to raise £20,000 for the next few critical months.
Existing services include a food bank, a free drop-in advice café, health and wellbeing sessions and debt advice. The legal advice sessions with Stafford and Rugeley-based solicitors Pickering and Butters take place on the first Monday of the month between 9.30 am and 12 noon.
The drop-in centre gets 204 clients per month of which 40 request one-to-one support; in addition, about 10 new people find their way to the community hub each month. The youth café regularly sees up to 20 young people taking part in its twice-weekly sessions.
