Trout Fishing

With the slightly warmer weather and stronger winds this week the lakes have been free of ice which is fantastic and that’s what the fishing has been this week.  Trout have been caught from all area’s of both lakes on a massive selection of flies and lines which is great to see so keep on the move if your not catching any fish.

Stafford angler Pete Watts had a great day catching 6 fish up to 7lb on small nymphs fished static on a floating line.  Pete lots another 8 fish throughout the day over both pools, The key was to leave the flies to fish on the drop Static. Most anglers have been catching fish with very few blanks over the week, Most anglers caught on a floating line fishing Damsel patterns, Fritz lures and even CDC’S when the trout have been rising, Which has been most days.  Wayne Barker from Wolverhampton landed a fin perfect brown trout along with 4 rainbows over the weekend.  Wayne caught the 6lb 9oz Brown Trout off the Railway Pool last cast of the day just as the light was going, The fish took a large Minkie Fry pattern fished slow and close to the bottom.

Another large stocking of trout has gone into Both lakes this week which will boast the catch rates even more which is unbelievable, More Browns have also gone in with a mixture of Blues and Rainbows well into double figures.  This coming week is the Time to get out on the banks at Seighford lakes.

We will be holding a Large competition on Saturday 28th Febuary which is open to every fly angler out there, The Iain Barr bank masters will be coming to Seighford lakes again this year where every angler gets a fly line and flies just for entering the competition. If you are interested then please book in through the Fishing Lodge 01785 2828967.
