News from Oulton First School

Class 1 – Tesco trip

On Tuesday 24th February Class 1 at Oulton First School visited Tesco at Meir Park to kick start their healthy eating topic! As part of their Farm to Fork trip they visited the bakery where they iced hot cross buns, made cheese rolls and saw the workings of the bakery behind the scenes!

They explored the fish counter where they held a large shrimp and tasted some salmon and cod. They then had a tasting session at the cheese counter and fruit and vegetable section, followed by sampling some breads, such as tiger bread!

As a follow up, a member of the Tesco team will soon be visiting the school as part of an Easter project where they will be learning about eggs and decorating their own!

Class 1 Chatterbox Challenge

On Friday 27th February Class 1 took part I CAN’s Chatterbox Challenge, the charity’s annual sponsored sing-along, developing their communication skills whilst raising money for I CAN’s work with children who struggle to communicate. This year’s theme was For this year’s Garden Adventures with Ben & Holly.

Therefore Class 1 held a special stay and play session for their parents where there were a variety of activities on offer followed by a performance of their fairy songs they had been rehearsing in preparation. We are extremely proud to announce that from this event class 1 raised £60 for the charity.
