Penalty for Great Bridgeford dog owner

A dog owner has been issued with a £75 penalty for not cleaning up after his pet in Great Bridgeford

A borough council enforcement officer spotted the man letting his dog foul on a field next to the village hall in Great Bridgeford near Eccleshall. The man did not clean up after his dog and wasn’t carrying any bags to remove the mess when the officer approached him.

The local man was given a £75 fixed penalty notice.

The council has run a series of initiatives to clamp down on dog fouling across the borough. A number of people have been fined or prosecuted for not clearing up after their pets over the last two years.

Councillor Frank Finlay, Cabinet member for Environment and Health, said:

“Not cleaning up after your dog can have serious health implications. And the community, especially the responsible dog owners, has been tremendous in their support for what we are trying to do.

“All you have to do is pick up, bag the mess, and put it in a bin – and that can be any public rubbish bin.”
