Stone Dominoes Ladies 5 – Brereton Town Ladies 1

Stone started slowly and were second to every ball. Within the first 10minutes of the game, Brereton got a shot on goal after the dominoes were unable to clear the ball in the box making it 1-0. From this point, Stone woke up and began to create chances and soon were on top of the game.

Strikers Mollie Prime and Vikki Garner both had chances but both shots were straight at the keeper. More chances came and both Garner and Prime set each other up and both netted to give the lead to dominoes both of the goals being dinked over the keepers head.

The game began to get a bit scrappy and with the wet pitch, tackles were flying in everywhere. After a Brereton striker was brought down on the edge of the box, they came close to equalising from the free kick however Jules Kendrick was able to head off the line. In the last few minutes of the first half, left winger Holly Fowell turned on the tricks to out skill the keeper taking it around her then flicking the ball over her head however Fowell couldn’t get a shot off as the Brereton defender managed to get back and block in time. Half time 2-1.

During the break the referee was close to calling the match off due to the heavy rain, however it had soon stopped and the second half kicked off after a small delay. The dominoes were playing some great football considering the conditions and with Nat Price sat in the holding role, Lauren Ward was able to push forward and net twice for the ladies team taking the score to 4-1.

Hannah Waffle came off the bench and made a big impact, creating chances for Mollie Prime however Prime again hit straight at the keeper. Vikki Garner rounded up the scoring with a scooped shot over the keepers head making it 5-1. This is Garners 5th goal in a row where she has dinked it over the keeper.

Player of the match was Mollie Prime who once again caused havoc for the Brereton defence. The ladies are now top of the league as league leaders Shrewsbury’s match got called off. Next week the ladies are in cup action against Bradwell FC in the quarter finals of the Staffordshire County League Cup.
