Stone student awarded £1,000 scholarship

The future looks brighter for a Stone student who has been awarded a £1,000 scholarship from Leeds Beckett University.

BA (Hons) Events Management undergraduate, Niki Gill, is one of 14 Leeds Beckett first year students to be selected for the University’s annual Bright Futures Scholarships.

The funding offers financial support to students who might otherwise be unable to afford a university education. The scholarships are awarded to students who are the first in their family to go to university and are based on academic merit, with funding for the scheme provided by Leeds Beckett graduates.

Niki said she was delighted to be receiving the scholarship and would be using the funding towards textbooks, stationery and a printer. Speaking about her future aspirations, she said:

“I have always had an interest in the arts and after university I hope to have a career running events within the arts industry. My degree is definitely going to help prepare me for that and this scholarship will aid me in reaching my full potential.”
