The Governors of Newcastle-under-Lyme School are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr David Williamson as their new Headmaster.
David is currently Deputy Head (Academic) at Nottingham High School, a position that he has held for over seven years. He was also previously employed in a senior position at the renowned Latymer Upper School in London and, prior to that, at the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Having worked in three excellent independent schools, David will arrive at Newcastle with a wealth of experience, along with dynamic plans for taking the School through the next exciting stage of its development.
David will take up his post on 1 September, following Nick Rugg’s departure at the end of the Summer Term. In the meantime, David will be periodically working with Governors, Nick Rugg and colleagues in the School with a view to ensuring a smooth handover.
“I am really looking forward to leading this great school, where the pupils achieve such remarkable things, working with its excellent staff to build on the tremendous successes of Nick Rugg as Headmaster. ” said David Williamson.
Nick Rugg leaves Newcastle-under-Lyme School after eight hugely successful years. The School is now ranked in the Top 100 Schools by both The Times and The Daily Telegraph. Nick will take up his new appointment in September as Director of Schools for the Laude Group, which consists of seven British and Bilingual Schools in Spain.
“Ruth and I have received many kind words since the announcement of our departure and we appreciate very much all that has been said. My new post will bring a whole new set of challenges and I am looking forward to it although we will be very sad to leave Newcastle-under-Lyme School after eight very happy and fulfilling years”, said Nick Rugg.
