Summer is officially on the way and so is the time to put the kettle on and raise a cuppa to your local hospice to help them to continue to provide free care to local people. Throughout June, Katharine House Hospice is asking members of the local community to get together with friends, neighbours, family or colleagues and have a cuppa for the hospice!
The Hospice is asking local people to host their own “Big Cuppa” tea party or a simple get together with friends and make a donation to the Hospice. Tea party organisers are urged to ask their guests to make a donation for their refreshments which will go to the hospice.
Katharine House hospice Corporate Fundraiser Becky Martin said:
“Last year the community came together to raise over £15,000 for the Hospice simply by having a cup of tea with friends, family, work colleagues and neighbours – incredible!”
“This year we have a great deal to celebrate with the hospice caring for our 10,000’th patient! We would love it if local people would get involved with the Big Cuppa and help to raise as much money as possible again this year. Last June many local companies invited customers in for tea and cake which proved a great way to engage with them. And this year we have several local villages taking part who will be inviting neighbours over for tea and a chat. So however small, please do get involved and show off your baking skills!”
“Big Cuppa” is being very kindly sponsored by Qube Environmental, a new corporate supporter for the hospice. Judith Richardson, Director of Qube said
“We are delighted to be able to support such an important cause as Katharine House Hospice in this way. We hope the Big Cuppa will be a great success and raise much needed funds for the hospice.”
Since its beginnings as a volunteer led Hospice at Home service back in 1989 – Katharine House has grown to provide a range of vital free care services for local people. Since 1989 the Hospice has provided care for 10,000 patients across Mid-Staffordshire coping with a progressive illness and their families. It relies upon the generosity of the local community to help generate 75% of funds needed to run its range of vital services.
