It has been an ambition for myself and long term friend, Chris Knight, to run an event in Stoke-on-Trent that will help to give a much needed boost for Stoke’s local economy, but also that fitted in with our passion for good quality beverages, whether that’s real ale or fine single malt. We had always thought we would organise a beer festival as we are both keen ale drinkers who attend many beer festivals.
It was only when we were sitting in The Hop Inn, one our favourite real ale pubs, that I suddenly gazed upon the range of single malt whiskies and came up with the idea of organising a whisky festival. Chris had recently attended The Midlands whisky festival and was soon to depart for London for yet another whisky festival. He used this opportunity to speak to a number of distilleries attending to research our idea. The response was all positive from both the distilleries and also our local community regarding the event, so we set about a plan to organise Stoke’s first ever whisky festival.
With a lot of hard work and dedication we are pleased to be able to offer the whisky drinkers of Stoke the opportunity to attend the festival, which will take place on the 4th July at Stoke’s town hall. We are hopeful the event will help to boost the local economy and also educate all attendees about the world of whisky at the same time. Tickets are available to buy from our website www.stokewhiskyfestival.co.uk
