SATURDAY 8th August

10.30am – Opening parade. Starts at the Council Office car park short distance to Crown Hotel

 

At The Crown Hotel

11am – Treasure Trove Puppet Theatre presents Victorian Cinderella in the Ballroom

12noon – Tysoe Marionette Group presents Puppet Gruffalo in the Harding Bar

12.45pm – Michael Dixon & David Leech presents a Marionette Extravaganza in the ballroom

1.45pm – Treasure Trove Puppet Theatre presents Victorian Cinderella in the Ballroom

2.45pm – Tysoe Marionette Group presents Puppet Gruffalo in the Harding Bar

3.30pm – Michael Dixon & David Leech presents a Marionette Extravaganza in the Ballroom

4.30pm – Tysoe Marionette Group presents Puppet Gruffalo in the Harding Bar

National Puppetry Archive – Assembly Rooms

The National Puppetry Archive and its collection are administered by the Guild and consist of all kinds of puppets including a valuable collection of Victorian “trick” marionettes.

Michael Dixon will also demonstrate how some of the puppets work too.

Whatever your interest in puppetry, gain an insight into the construction, costuming and operation of puppets of various types with demonstrations of the figures throughout the day.

History of Pelham Puppets – Holland restaurant

A range of the puppet characters produced by the famous Toy Company from 1947 – 1980 by David Leech, Official Historian of Pelham Puppets

Many of the characters together with photographs of the original Marlborough factory will be on show bringing back many nostalgic childhood memories for parents and grandparents.
