Summer term at Oulton Abbey Playgroup finished on a high note with the play “Arthur’s Bad Day” followed by sports. The play (a sorry tale about an owl with a happy ending) was written and narrated by Tracey while the children sang the songs with great gusto.
The sports included running, egg and spoon and some serious welly throwing. There were also races for mums, dads and other members of the audience, the mums’ race being particularly competitive. The trophies were received with great satisfaction.
Just the day before the Stone in Bloom judges had visited the playgroup to present a beautiful award in the shape of a leaf which the children had won for their gardening skills and knowledge. The judges had also been impressed with their enthusiasm for worms.
The playgroup re-opens on 10th September and visitors are always welcome. Just call in or ring Tracey or Fiona on 01785 827970 (Playgroup hours only) or the abbey on 01785 812049.
